RAISING AWARENESS OF MUSCULOSKELETAL CONDITIONS
National Awareness Week - State and Local participation
A key goal of the U.S. Bone and Joint Decade is to significantly raise awareness of musculoskeletal disorders among legislators, policy-makers, all healthcare professionals, patients and the public. All 50 states have delcared their support for the Decade. We are soliciting additional state and local support to especially promote bone and joint health during the Decade's National Awareness Week, October 12-20.
These proclamations and other endorsements (example shown from the State of Michigan) made by civic leaders and by policy-makers endorse the need for more to be done to address the increasing burden of disease, for more research into treatments, and affirm the value of the Decade's integrated initiative including patients, healthcare professionals and allied organizations concerned about musculoskeletal diseases and disorders.
Typically these resolutions are placed on the agenda and read during legislative sessions. They serve as the catalyst for press conferences, interviews and stories, as well as regional community activities.
You can view some sample resolutions below. These include examples for state, county and city resolutions, and one example for a proclamation made by a Governor. For any questions, please contact usbjd@usbjd.org, ph. 847-384-4010. State resolutions should be emailed to usbjd@usbjd.org, or mailed to 6300 N. River Road, Rosemont, IL 60018. We thank you for assisting in this program.
